Youth and Teen Challenge, Kirkmichael estate, Helensburgh

I had an encouraging day with Tim, assistant minister at Kirkmuirhill Parish Church, he is working hard, and the church is really reaching out to the community. It was good to have Tim to bounce of my thoughts as we walked round the Kirkmichael and Churchill estates.

I have to say that the Rev. Ian Watson minster at Kirkmuirhill Parish Church has really grasped outreach work and has shared a few ideas for youth work with “Presbyterian Youth” an Australian program and Tim mentioned today something called CEPAS, I am not sure if this is the right name but if anyone reads this blog and knows, please tell me. They have started a Teen Challenge outreach and a program for parents called “Drug Proofing Your Kids Course” they are really getting deep into the community which is fantastic.

I have seen Teen challenge bus working on the Kirkmichael estate this is fantastic for this area which does have a high rate of drug taking and alcoholic abuse. It might be worth asking Teen Challenge if they would have a cafe afternoon in the centre where there could be a few songs, a testimony and short gospel message, it’s worth praying about.

I find it amazing these Christians are working here and Park Church of Scotland doing its bit, I think they are doing a youth program in the future, and it would be awesome the dads and men in the church would grasp the burden like Paul Allen and the minister to work here and not give up.

I want to add that Kirkmuirhill Parish Church are having a mission in August and they are busy preaching weekly to give the congregation a hunger to go out and evangelise to the community. Sermons can be heard here http://kirkmuirhillchurch.podomatic.com/

The message below is from Tim Mason on Mark 7, with the big idea “The church’s mission is for everyone”
